If Freddy Mercury just wanted to ride his bicycle, who are we to disagree with him? We'll take you around Leon, along with our guide Marlon, to get to know his city, its secrets, and its folklore on a biking tour that goes faster than any other tour in the city, bringing you to hidden corners. The list of places that we're going to visit is too long for this introduction, so join us.
THE HIDDEN GEMS OF LEON
We offer an ecological and enjoyable way to discover the hidden gems of León Santiago De Los Caballeros. Hop on a bike and explore the city with an expert local guide, uncovering the beauty and intriguing spots of this town. You'll make several stops during the itinerary for brief discussions about the highlights you visit and their history.
The journey begins at Central Park and continues to the baseball stadium (the national sport) and San Felipe Church, next we proceed to San Juan Park and the station market, where the train station was located until the 1990s.
HISTORICALLY NEIGHBORHOOD
Let's continue and make a stop at two important religious landmarks, El Calvario Church, and Guadalupe Church, each with its churchyard where the local people usually gather.
Then, we head back downtown where other highlights are located: the ruins of the first church of the new city of León (after the inhabitants of the original nucleus abandoned it due to the fear of an eruption from the Momotombo volcano).
We also visit the Museum of Myths and Legends, which illustrates the main Nicaraguan folk legends and the dark period of torture during the Somoza regime.
SUTIABA TRIBE
After visiting the Liborio Church, we make a stop at the famous Tope del Indio Park, which is dominated by a monument to the indigenous people that marked the territorial limit of the renowned pre-Columbian Sutiaba tribe. At this point, we take a break at a local restaurant to enjoy some typical snacks.
Finally, we conclude the historical part of the tour by revisiting significant events from the city's past that took place in this area.
